Under The Starry Vault was born out of a shared desire: to create an independent space where our imaginations could interact freely and our works could unfold without disciplinary boundaries.
The studio’s origins lie in our artistic encounter. Very early on, our respective practices—writing and sound creation for one, visual arts and animation for the other—proved to be complementary. We realized that our projects could only fully exist within a framework that we would build ourselves, at the crossroads of visual arts, text, sound, immersive technologies, and more recently, textile arts.
Creating our own studio thus seemed obvious: it was a matter of producing our work independently, structuring our international collaborations, and giving coherence to our transdisciplinary projects.
An artistic theme:
Nature, mythology, spirituality
The guiding themes of Under The Starry Vault run through all of our creations. We explore the relationship between human beings and nature, whether it be forests, oceans, or fragile ecosystems.
Our works also question mythology and spirituality, not in a dogmatic way, but as symbolic matrices that connect cultures. Founding narratives, cosmogonies, and archetypes nourish our work and engage with contemporary issues, particularly ecological ones.
A studio committed to intercultural dialogue
Under The Starry Vault is fully committed to intercultural collaboration. Our projects take shape through contact with a variety of regions and communities, including collectives of artisans, researchers, anthropologists, and cultural actors.
We see the studio as a space for the circulation of knowledge and imagination, where local practices meet contemporary creation that is open to the world. This intercultural dimension is not simply a production framework; it is an integral part of our approach, because we believe that today’s ecological and spiritual challenges require transnational and sensitive dialogue.
Producing immersive works
At Under The Starry Vault, we develop hybrid works combining visual arts, writing, soundscapes, and augmented reality devices. The studio allows us to articulate these mediums with each other and to support each project from its conception to its international distribution.
